Competition – Share your Views of Barnsley

Thumbnail for News Item Barnsley Civic Trust wants you to share your view of Barnsley in a brand new competition which will bring to life the changing landscape of the town.

Whether it’s new buildings, old buildings, pubs or people, whatever Barnsley means to you, we ask you to use it as inspiration. The winning entries will be exhibited at the Cooper Gallery, Barnsley, in September.

There will be one overall winner and three runners-up. The prize for the winning entry is to be exhibited at the Cooper Gallery as part of the major Kenneth Graham exhibition, the historical pen-and-ink drawings of Barnsley town centre scenes.

The overall winner will also receive £50-worth of vouchers from Boots. There will be three runners-up, whose work will be exhibited elsewhere in the Cooper Gallery and a pick of the best entries during the Kenneth Graham exhibition.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • The “Your View of Barnsley” competition is open to all forms of visual art, including photography, watercolours, oils and mixed media.   Digitally-altered work is acceptable.
  • We apologise that we cannot accept sculpture or 3-D models.
  • All artists and photographers, amateur and professional, who do not have to be members of Barnsley Civic Trust, are eligible to enter.
  • Entrants under the age of 16 will require signed permission from a parent or guardian.
  • The judging panel will comprise a member of the Barnsley Civic Trust, a representative from the Cooper Gallery, and a representative from the Tasker Trust, the photographic archive of Barnsley. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • There will be no cash alternative to the prize.
  • Entrants will be asked to give their permission for their entries to be scanned into the Barnsley Civic Trust image database. Credited images may be used for publicity purposes.
  • The closing date for the “Your View of Barnsley” competition is Friday, August 22nd.
