Thumbnail for News ItemTHE winners of the town centre red and white day competition, organised to celebrate Barnsley’s appearance at Wembley, have been announced.

Staff from Pats for Pants on Barnsley indoor market, Staniforth’s bakery in the Arcade and Shop Mobility on Shambles Street have been presented with prizes donated by Nancy Mitchell, Manager of Boots in Cheapside.

The winners were chosen by judges from Barnsley Chamber of Commerce and Barnsley Civic Trust.

Some 50 businesses took part in the day, decorating their shop windows in the team colours and encouraging their managers and staff to dress up in team kits to create a special atmosphere and support the football club.

Town Centre Manager, Garreth Bruff said: “I would like to thank all the businesses that took part. It was a great effort by everyone involved and really showed how well the town centre can come together as one.”
